Hi, I'm Carlos Mendes from Portugal. I'm preparing my documents for a UAE business bank account, and the bank has asked me to provide proof of my source of income. What documents are usually accepted, and what should I keep ready before applying?
I’m Kuldeep, Head of the Banking Team at DhanGuard. This is a very important part of the banking process because every UAE bank must verify the source of funds and source of income as part of its KYC and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations.
The exact documents requested can vary from one bank to another, but the following are commonly accepted:
|
Source of Income |
Documents Commonly Accepted |
|
Employment Income |
Recent salary slips or salary certificates of the signing authority. |
|
Business Income |
Income records from your existing business in your home country or another country, along with supporting financial documents. |
|
Trading Activity |
Around 3 credit invoices and 3 debit invoices to demonstrate genuine business transactions. |
|
Investment Income |
Documents showing the sale of investments such as shares, securities, or other financial assets. |
|
Property Sale |
Sale agreement or other official documents proving proceeds from the sale of a property. |
Depending on your business profile, the bank may also request supporting documents such as personal or corporate bank statements, tax records, contracts, or audited financial statements to better understand how your income has been generated.
One piece of advice I give clients is don't wait for the bank to ask for every document individually. If you know your income comes from multiple sources, for example, salary, investments, and an existing business, it's better to prepare evidence for each one in advance. A well-documented application usually moves through compliance much more smoothly than one where documents are submitted in stages.
At DhanGuard, we review every client's source-of-funds documentation before the application is submitted, helping reduce unnecessary compliance queries and improving the chances of a smoother bank account opening process.
