What are the daily and monthly online transaction limits for a UAE business bank account?

I run a UAE trading company and make frequent supplier payments online. Some of my transactions are quite large, so I'm worried that my business bank account may have a low daily transfer limit. How much can I normally transfer online, and can the limit be increased?

Hi Denzel,

There isn't one standard online transaction limit that applies to every UAE business bank account. Your limit usually depends on the bank, corporate banking package, account profile, and whether you're making a local or international transfer.

For many traditional UAE banks, online corporate transfer limits can range from around AED 100,000 to more than AED 1 million per day. Banks may also allow businesses to request higher limits based on their transaction requirements and compliance profile.

Typical Online Transaction Limits

  • Local transfers: Standard corporate banking portals may have daily limits of approximately AED 100,000–AED 500,000, depending on the bank and account setup.
  • International/SWIFT transfers: Limits can be considerably higher and may reach AED 1 million or more per day for eligible businesses, subject to bank approval and compliance checks.
  • Corporate debit card payments: Online or POS spending limits can commonly fall around AED 125,000–AED 150,000 per day, depending on the card and bank.
  • Monthly transactions: Most traditional corporate accounts don't impose a universal monthly transaction ceiling. Instead, businesses generally operate within their daily limits, although certain digital or fintech accounts may have their own monthly thresholds.

Can You Increase the Limit?

Yes, in many cases. If your business regularly makes high-value payments, you can contact your Relationship Manager or corporate banking team and request a higher transaction limit.

The bank may ask about your expected transaction volume, beneficiaries, business activity, supporting invoices, and source of funds before approving the increase. Large or unusual international transfers may also undergo additional compliance checks.

You can usually check your existing limits through your corporate banking portal. Platforms such as Emirates NBD businessONLINE and ADCB ProCash provide corporate banking controls for managing account and transaction services.

One important point, a higher transaction limit doesn't mean every transfer will automatically be processed without review. Banks can still pause or request additional documentation for unusually large, international, or higher-risk transactions.

So, if your business expects frequent high-value supplier payments, I'd recommend discussing your expected monthly transaction pattern with the bank before opening the account or requesting the limit increase. This can help ensure your banking setup matches the way your company actually operates.
