Hi , I'm deepak from Oman. I hadn't logged into my UAE business bank account for a few months, and now I can't access online banking. The bank says my account is temporarily blocked. What could have caused this, and how can I get it reactivated?

Hi Deepak,

I'm Deepak Pant, and this is something I come across quite often. A blocked account after a period of inactivity doesn't necessarily mean there's a serious issue. In many cases, it's simply the bank's way of ensuring your account still meets its security and compliance requirements.

The first thing you should do is contact your business bank account support team or your relationship manager and ask for the exact reason behind the restriction. Banks will usually tell you whether the block is due to inactivity, an expired KYC record, or missing documentation.

It's also a good idea to keep the following documents ready:

  • A valid trade licence.
  • Memorandum of Association (MoA).
  • Passport and Emirates ID copies of the authorised signatories.
  • Recent business invoices, contracts, or other documents that demonstrate the company is actively operating.

In many cases, the authorised signatory will need to visit a branch with original identification to complete a simple reactivation form. Before doing that, check whether your trade licence, Emirates ID, office address, and shareholder information on record are all up to date. An expired licence or outdated KYC details is one of the most common reasons business accounts are temporarily restricted.

The quicker you provide the requested documents, the sooner the bank can complete its review and restore access to your account.
