Hi myself Amelia Moore , I transferred money through my UAE business account, but the transaction is showing "Under Compliance Review." How long does this usually take, and is there anything I can do to speed it up?
Hi, I'm Shilpa, part of the Banking Team at DhanGuard. This is one of the most common questions we receive from business owners, and in most cases, a compliance review is simply a precautionary check rather than a sign that your transaction has been rejected.
The timeframe depends on the reason for the review. A straightforward verification usually takes between 1 and 3 weeks, while more complex cases, especially those involving international transfers, multiple jurisdictions, or enhanced regulatory checks, can take 4 to 8 weeks.
Several factors influence how quickly the review is completed:
- Source of funds: If you can promptly provide supporting documents such as invoices, contracts, salary slips, or a property sale agreement, the bank can often complete the review much faster.
- Missing or incomplete information: If the bank has to request additional documents or clarification, the timeline naturally extends.
- Regulatory checks: Transactions that require additional screening under Central Bank regulations or cross-border compliance procedures usually take longer.
If your transaction is currently on hold, I'd suggest taking a few practical steps:
- Check your email, SMS, or banking app for any document requests from the bank.
- Submit all requested paperwork as soon as possible instead of sending documents one at a time.
- Contact your relationship manager or customer support and ask whether the compliance team requires any additional information to complete the review.
We recently assisted a client whose overseas payment was temporarily placed under review because the receiving business bank account requested supporting commercial documents. Once the client submitted the purchase invoice and supplier contract, the payment was released without any further issues.
The best way to avoid delays in the future is to ensure your transactions are well supported with proper documentation and remain consistent with your company's licensed business activities. That makes it much easier for the bank's compliance team to complete their checks quickly.
