Hi, I'm Viktor from Poland. My retail business in Dubai collects a lot of cash every day, and I regularly deposit it into my company account. Is there a limit on how much cash I can deposit into a UAE business bank account?
Hi Viktor,
I'm Deepak Pant, and this is an important question for businesses that handle cash regularly.
The short answer is yes, UAE banks do have cash deposit limits, but the exact limit depends on how you're depositing the money and the bank you're using.
If you're using a Cash Deposit Machine (CDM), many major banks such as Emirates NBD and Emirates Islamic allow corporate customers to deposit up to AED 500,000 per day. Some banks also apply monthly limits, which can reach around AED 5 million, depending on your account type and banking package.
If your cash exceeds the machine limit, you'll usually need to visit a branch and make the deposit through a teller. Keep in mind that some banks may charge a bulk cash handling fee for large over-the-counter deposits, so it's worth checking your account's tariff guide.
Another point many businesses overlook is compliance. A single cash deposit above AED 40,000 may prompt the bank to ask for supporting documents explaining the source of the funds. This is a standard requirement under the UAE's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and doesn't necessarily indicate there's a problem with your business bank account.
Banks are also required to monitor and report significant cash transactions to the relevant UAE authorities where applicable. If your business regularly deals with large amounts of cash, such as supermarkets, restaurants, or retail stores, it's a good idea to maintain proper invoices, sales records, and accounting documentation so you can respond quickly if the bank requests additional information.
