Hi everyone, I'm Ahmed from Saudi Arabia and I recently incorporated a trading company in the UAE. I'm considering opening an Abu Dhabi Islamic Business Bank Account because I prefer Islamic banking solutions. Before I proceed, I'd like to know whether ADIB offers a zero balance business account or if there is a minimum balance requirement.

Hi Ahmed,

I’m Kuldeep, Head of the Banking Team at DhanGuard. We help entrepreneurs and international investors with company formation and end-to-end business banking solutions across the UAE. With extensive experience in UAE corporate banking, our team has successfully assisted numerous startups, SMEs, and international businesses in opening business bank accounts, selecting the right banking partners, and navigating the UAE’s banking compliance and KYC requirements.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Business Bank Account does offer an option that does not require a minimum average monthly balance through its Business Connect Account, making it a practical choice for startups and businesses seeking greater flexibility. However, this account is not entirely free, as ADIB charges a monthly maintenance fee of AED 125.

Other Abu Dhabi Islamic Business Bank Account packages come with minimum balance requirements. Depending on the account type, businesses may need to maintain balances ranging from AED 5,000 to AED 750,000 to avoid additional charges and access enhanced banking features.

When considering an Abu Dhabi Islamic Business Bank Account, don't focus only on whether the account offers a zero-balance facility. It's equally important to evaluate factors such as minimum balance requirements, monthly fees, online banking features, international transfer capabilities, cheque book facilities, and whether the bank's services align with your business activities and expected transaction volumes.

Hi,

Yes. Abu Dhabi Islamic Business Bank Account offers a business banking option called Business Connect, which does not require a minimum monthly average balance. However, it's important to understand that zero minimum balance does not mean zero banking charges.

ADIB Business Account Options

Account

Minimum Average Balance

Approx. Monthly Charge

Business Connect

No minimum balance

AED 125

Business One

Above AED 5,000

AED 450

Business Premium

Above AED 250,000

AED 350

Business Elite

Above AED 750,000

AED 125

The Business Connect package is therefore the most relevant option if your priority is avoiding a minimum balance requirement. Approval is still subject to ADIB's eligibility and internal assessment.

What "Zero Balance" Really Means

If you're a startup, keeping your working capital available can be more useful than maintaining a large idle balance simply to avoid a fall-below charge. With Business Connect, you don't have to maintain a specified monthly average balance, but you should budget for the applicable monthly maintenance fee and other transaction charges.

I'd also recommend checking the latest ADIB fee schedule and eligibility criteria before opening the account, as banking packages and charges can change.
