Hi, I'm Michael Tan from Singapore. My company already has a business bank account in the UAE, but we're growing and considering opening another account with a different bank for payroll and international payments. Is it allowed to maintain multiple business accounts across different UAE banks, or should a company have only one corporate account?

@michael01 Hi Michael, thanks for reaching out.

Yes, it's absolutely allowed for a UAE company to maintain multiple corporate bank accounts across different banks. In fact, many growing businesses do this to separate functions like payroll, supplier payments, international transactions, or simply to reduce dependency on a single bank.

The key is choosing the right bank based on your business needs, transaction volumes, currencies, and the countries you regularly deal with. Since you already have one account, opening a second one is often a straightforward process, provided your company's compliance documents are in order.

I'm Gayatri, a Banking Consultant with Dhanguard in Dubai, and I help businesses compare banks and manage the entire account opening process. If you could share your company activity, jurisdiction (Mainland or Free Zone), and your current bank, I'd be happy to suggest the most suitable options for payroll and international payments.

I’m Shilpa from DhanGuard Consultancy, and yes, you can absolutely maintain multiple business bank accounts across different UAE banks. In fact, many established businesses do exactly that as part of their financial management strategy.

There's no rule limiting your company to a single corporate account. Many businesses choose to spread their banking across different institutions for practical reasons, such as:

  • Keeping operational expenses separate from client collections.
  • Using one account exclusively for payroll.
  • Maintaining a backup banking relationship in case payment processing is delayed.
  • Taking advantage of different banking features, international transfer options, or foreign currency services.

When applying for an additional business account, banks will usually ask for many of the same documents you submitted for your first account, including:

Company Documents

  • Valid UAE Trade License.
  • Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Memorandum and Articles of Association (MOA/AOA).

Shareholder Documents

  • Passport copies.
  • Emirates ID (for UAE residents).
  • Residence Visa copies (where applicable).

Business Information

  • Office lease or Ejari.
  • Company profile or business plan.
  • Recent invoices, contracts, or other proof of business activity.

Some banks may also request a bank reference letter from your existing banking relationship, especially if you're opening an account with a new institution.

Each bank has its own strengths, so businesses often choose accounts based on their operational needs. For example:

Bank

Notable Feature

Emirates NBD

Connect package with no minimum balance option, although branch access and transaction benefits are more limited.

First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB)

Business Advantage account offering multi-currency facilities and dedicated relationship management.

ADCB

Business banking packages available in Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers with different transaction limits and benefits.

ADIB

Business One account with a minimum average balance requirement of AED 5,000* and competitive business banking features.

One recommendation I often give clients is not to open multiple accounts just because it's possible. Each banking relationship should have a clear purpose. Choosing the right combination of banks based on your company's payment volumes, international transactions, and day-to-day operations can make managing your business much more efficient.
