I wanted to start a digital marketing consultancy in Sharjah but unsure whether he needed to spend AED 20,000–30,000 just to get his free zone company registered. Could I start with a basic package and add a visa later?

Yes. Sharjah free zone company formation can be relatively affordable, especially if you are starting a consultancy, media, technology, or other service-based business and do not immediately need multiple visas or a large office.

In 2026, a basic Sharjah free zone setup can start at around AED 6,500–AED 7,750 for a zero-visa licence. More comprehensive packages that include a residency visa, establishment card and workspace can generally fall in the AED 12,000–AED 16,000 range for a single-visa setup. The final cost depends on the free zone, business activity, office requirement and number of visas.

Free Zone Licence

Flexi-desk / Office Space

AED 5,000 – AED 15,000 annually

Basic licences in free zones such as SHAMS and SPC Free Zone can be suitable for entrepreneurs who want to keep their initial setup costs low. SHAMS Free Zone SPC Free Zone

What changes the total cost?

The licence fee is only one part of the setup. Your total investment can increase if you require:

  • Residency visas for yourself or employees
  • An establishment card and immigration file
  • A flexi-desk or dedicated office
  • Additional business activities or licence categories
  • More than one visa allocation
  • Additional government or documentation services

For example, Aarav could begin with a zero-visa licence if he only wanted to establish the company and did not immediately require UAE residency. Once the business was ready to relocate and operate from the UAE, he could budget separately for the visa and workspace requirements.

That's why I recommend looking at the complete first-year cost, rather than choosing a free zone simply because its headline licence price is the cheapest.
